Ricci Flow and algebraic quantum field theory
Referent: Dr. Nicolò Drago ,Universität Regensburg
Veranstalter: Karl-Hermann Neeb
Abstract:
The Ricci flow has been introduced in the mathematical literature in the early eighties by Hamilton. It also appeared independently in the context of quantum field theory thanks to the early works of Friedan within the analysis of nonlinear Sigma models (NLsM). Therein, the Ricci flow has been heuristically derived from the anomalous scaling behaviour of the Lagrangian underlying the theory.
In this talk we present a rigorous derivation of the Ricci flow on firm mathematical grounds. For that, we will discuss the algebraic approach to NLsMs and the concept of renormalization group.
